AUGUSTA, Ga. — After a stellar performance in a season-opening win against Queens on Wednesday, Raygan Larson has been named Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

The announcement comes after an impressive start to Larson’s senior campaign where she allowed only four hits and no walks while striking out 11 of the 22 batters that she faced. The Cordele, Georgia native did not allow a runner to advance past second base, and retired the side in order in two frames, including striking out the side in the bottom of the first.

It is the first PBC weekly award for the program since the 2019 season, and the first PBC Pitcher of the Week award for a UNCP softball player since 2008.

Larson, who played her freshman campaign at Middle Georgia, has tallied 13 wins in 20 starts over her career in Pembroke, while also striking out 114 batters in 161 2/3 innings of work. She also has five career shutouts (two combined), as well as a trio of saves.

The Braves are set to be back in action on Wednesday when they welcome Coker to Pembroke. First pitch of the twinbill is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the UNCP Softball Field. The event is closed to spectators.
