FAYETTEVILLE — Kyle Hardy of Stephens City, Virginia, took advantage of Brett Hamm’s flat tire on the final lap to win Saturday night’s Carolina Clash race at Fayetteville Motor Speedway.

Hardy’s $5,000 victory came in an event sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series. That race highlighted a two-show weekend at the 4/10ths-mile dirt oval in which Dustin Mitchell of Pinelevel also captured $5,000 for winning a race sanctioned by the Ultimate Super Late Model Series.

Hardy inherited the lead in the third turn of the 50th lap and crossed the finish line .46 seconds ahead of of Trent Ivey. Michael Brown finished third, Christian Thomas was fourth and Hamm placed fifth. Hardy pocketed $5,000 for his first career win in Clash competition.

Despite the last-lap setback, Hamm was able to add to his series points lead over Dennis “Rambo” Franklin, who finished 16th.

Ryan Shabram won the Legends event both nights.
