LUMBERTON — Pesticide recertification training has been scheduled for Wednesday at O.P. Owens Agriculture Center.

The two training sessions, being offered by North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service, Robeson County Center, are scheduled for 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. The agriculture center is located at 455 Caton Road in Lumberton.

Each session has different recertification credits available, and participants must register for each one if they wish to attend both. Registration is required because of COVID-19 restrictions, and class sizes are limited to 24 participants each. Only people who register will be allowed to attend. Participants must provide a valid cell phone number or email address to receive confirmation of registration.

Private Applicator Recertification V Training is the morning session. Training will provide information on Worker Protections Standard revisions, auxin herbicides, protecting pollinators, proper nozzle tip selection, and basics of air-purifying respirators. Two hours of recertification credits in categories Private Applicator V Credits are available.

The afternoon session is Pesticide Safety and Decontamination. This training will focus on properly decontaminating PPE and spray equipment. Attendees will gain a better understanding of the pesticide container recycling program and environmental stewardship. Two hours of recertification credits in commercial categories A, B, D, G, H, I, K, L, M, N, O, T, and X are available.
