RED SPRINGS – The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office says a 6-month-old child was injured in a Friday afternoon shooting in Red Springs that also left an individual dead and a third person injured.

Robeson County Sheriff Burnis Wilkins confirmed detail of the shooting over the weekend.

Sheriff’s Office deputies were summoned to the area of Pearsall and Children’s roads just after 3 p.m. regarding two people being shot.

Deputies were also sent about 2.5 miles away to the Red Springs Police Department. Upon arrival, the Sheriff’s Office said, they found the baby with an injury from the shooting incident.

According to law enforcement, once the deputies reached the scene along Children’s Road, they discovered 26-year-old Kyle Jones of Shannon dead. Dakota Lambert, 26 was also injured from being shot.

Lambert and the infant were transported to area hospitals, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Lambert is listed in critical but stable condition, authorities said.

The baby, they said, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
