LUMBERTON — A 58-year-old Shannon woman died Monday after being involved in a hit-and-run incident, becoming the second person to die on Robeson County roadways since Saturday, according to the N.C. State Highway Patrol.

The NCSHP was dispatched about 7:35 a.m. Monday to a report of a hit-and-run on Old Lowery Road, about 2.1 miles from Red Springs, according to 1st Sgt. S.B. Lewis. Carolyn Locklear died after being struck by a vehicle.

“Evidence on scene indicated she was in the roadway at the time she was struck,” Lewis said.

The investigation continues, and anyone with information about the vehicle involved should call the Highway Patrol at 910-618-5555.

One person died and another was hospitalized after a Saturday crash involving two motorcycles and a passenger car, Lewis said. Troopers were dispatched to the crash about 4:24 p.m.

Jodi Kintop, 43, of Raleigh, died after Kintop’s motorcycle was struck head-on by a passenger car traveling south on N.C. 71 near Lumber Bridge, Lewis said. The car was operated by 27-year-old Megan Beale, of Hope Mills.

Kintop’s motorcycle overturned and struck a motorcycle that was traveling north on N.C. 71 and was being operated by 24-year-old Alivia Pineau, of Maryland. Pineau ran off the road to the right and struck a utility pole.

“Both motorcycle operators were ejected,” he said.

Kintop was taken to UNC Health Southeastern and died of injuries suffered in the crash, Lewis said. Pineau suffered injuries not thought to be life-threatening and was taken to McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina. Beale was not injured in the crash.

Beale was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle, Lewis said.
