LUMBERTON — An 18-year-old Fairmont man faces drug charges and a 20-year-old Lumberton man has been charged with multiple sexual offenses after recent arrests made by the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office in two separate cases.

Jeremy Sweat, of Fairmont, was charged Sunday with two counts of trafficking opium or heroin, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance on a jail premises, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Sweat was placed in the Robeson County Detention Center under a $410,000 secured bond.

He was arrested on Washington Drive in Fairmont after deputies stopped a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero for a traffic violation, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies located and seized a quantity of fentanyl, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a firearm during the traffic stop.

On Feb. 10, Robeson County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Division investigators arrested and charged Johnnie Britt, of Lumberton, with multiple sexual offenses that allegedly occurred during a three-year period.

Britt was charged with six counts of indecent liberties with a minor, one count of disseminating obscenity to a minor under the age of 13, two counts of crimes against nature and six counts of statutory sex offense of a child under the age of 13, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Britt was placed in the Robeson County Detention Center under a $1.5 million secured bond.
