MAXTON — Police are searching for one of two Maxton men charged in a Friday robbery.

Charged in the Friday robbery were 29-year-old Jock Lamar Clark and 27-year-old Sikia Artis Jr., according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office. Clark and 30-year-old Craig Harris were arrested Monday after the Sheriff’s Office and Maxton Police Department executed a search warrant at 92 Jack’s Drive in Maxton and recovered drug paraphernalia. Harris was not involved in the robbery.

“The search resulted in the seizure of a firearm, ammunition, marijuana and drug paraphernalia,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Artis Jr. remains at large. He is wanted by the Sheriff’s Office and Maxton Police Department for robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, first-degree kidnapping and larceny of a firearm.

Clark was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, first-degree kidnapping, larceny of firearm, two counts of possession of firearm by a convicted felon, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, conspiracy to sell and deliver marijuana, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Clark was placed in the Robeson County Detention Center under a $336,000 secured bond.

Before his arrest, Clark was serving a post release sentence with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He was released from prison in March after serving more than three years and four months for a common-law robbery in December 2016, assault inflicting serious injury and possession with intent to sell a Schedule VI controlled substance in June 2014, and discharging a firearm into occupied property in September 2012.

Harris was jailed under a $25,000 secured bond for the charges of maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, conspiracy to sell and deliver marijuana, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

About 11 p.m. Friday, the victim of the robbery arrived at Maxton Rescue and said he was assaulted and robbed by two people at Henderson Park, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He told police the men stole firearms, money and jewelry from him. The victim’s identity was not released.

The victim was described as severely beaten, but has been treated for his injuries, according to sheriff’s Maj. Damien McLean.
