LUMBERTON — The Robeson County Republican Women’s Club has scheduled a GOP Candidate Forum for 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Lion’s Club, located at 1985 Carthage Road in Lumberton.

Participating candidates include Dan Bishop, who is seeking re-election to the District 9 seat of the U.S. House of Representatives; Mark Robinson, candidate for N.C. lieutenant governor; Anthony Street, candidate for N.C. auditor; Olivia Oxendine, candidate for the District 47 seat of the N.C. House of Representatives; Steve Martin, candidate for the District 7 seat of the Robeson County Board of Commissioners; and John Cummings Jr., candidate for the District 3 seat of the Robeson County Board of Commissioners.

During the forum candidates may speak for about 10 minutes. There will be no questions because of time considerations. Candidates are invited to arrive early or stay late to meet with constituents. The event is open to the public.

Scheduled special speakers are Robeson County Republican Party Chairman Phillip Stephens and American civil rights activist Clarence Henderson.

Henderson is a former U.S. Army soldier who is best known for participating in the 1960 lunch counter sit-ins in Greensboro. He was one of the speakers at the 2020 Republican National Convention, where he spoke by video.
