LUMBERTON — A Lumberton man is facing a murder charge in relation to the Friday shooting death of a 29-year-old Maxton man at Pine Log Mobile Home Park.

Johnny C. Norton, 52, was charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after surrendering about 11 a.m. today to Robeson County Sheriff’s Office investigators, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He was placed in the Robeson County Detention Center with no bond for the murder charge, and under a $100,000 secured bond for the weapon offense.

The charges are related to the death of Brandon K. Hunt.

Deputies responded about 7:06 p.m. Friday to a report of a person shot on the 2500 block of N.C. 72 West in Lumberton, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Hunt was found dead at the scene.
